The dismantling of nuclear power plants is highly complex and takes many years. The decontamination of components exposed to radiation plays a central role in this. Wet decontamination systems are key components in the dismantling of nuclear power plants. Here, components are cleaned under high pressure or pre-cleaned before further shredding or dismantling. In 2023, we won a complete order for a wet decontamination plant including water treatment for the decommissioned power plant in Brokdorf. The entire system was planned in detail in 2024. We are currently on the verge of production approval and hope that we will soon be able to realize this complex system.
Our service includes – as our customers in the nuclear energy sector want and are accustomed to – the handover of a turnkey plant and also factory acceptance and commissioning as well as subsequent maintenance and servicing tasks.
The NDA001 wet decontamination system consists of two wet decontamination booths on one level at a height of 9 meters, each with its own recirculating air filter system and a complete water treatment system located one level below (level +6.0 m). The two wet decontamination booths are mounted on a steel structure so that the two booths on the nine-meter level can be loaded at floor level. The system is planned to fit perfectly into the existing building at the Brokdorf nuclear power plant. We also adapted the filter unit to the customer’s requirements and designed it to fit perfectly into the building. The entire filter unit is a complex interplay of the various raw and pure water tanks and the filter module, which is the heart of the system. The filter unit also consists of an oil separator, magnetic separator, pumps, pipelines and agitators, which are arranged between the tanks and filter module.

A further building block of our special expertise in the specialized field of nuclear energy has thus taken shape and further confirmed us as a reliable partner in the dismantling of nuclear facilities. Design know-how, a wealth of experience and an understanding of the special requirements for handling radiant material, mechanical engineering expertise, but also proven skills in the construction of supporting structures (steel construction), crane technology, knowledge and in-depth experience in the field of the Pressure Equipment Directive and occupational safety as well as in plant and pipeline construction predestine us as a technology partner to the industry.
As a small but fine medium-sized company on the periphery of Germany, we appreciate the loyalty of our customers.
